Today’s Assignments

Well good morning to everyone! I slept in today all the way until 6:30 so that was nice! And my cold is almost gone so that’s a miracle!!! I swear half the city is sick! So here’s a few things to cover today:

1. Health is a HUGE issue for everyone. Already one of the fire victims has passed away due to a massive stroke. Your bodies have been under an ENORMOUS shock. So the goal for everyone is to REALLY pay attention to your health!!! Take Airborne, get enough sleep, try to eat your fruits and veggies and try to get exercise (getting the run around-check!, racing around like a chicken with my head cut off - check!) Seriously, it would be well to get a complete physical if it’s time and to REALLY pay attention to this one. I won’t regale you with the negative stories but let’s just say that this is a big hit to your health and you need to watch that closely.

2. SIMPLIFY and ENJOY. This Christmas will be different and that’s OK. Call it the “Weird Christmas” and do lots of different things. Here’s some new traditions you can try:
a. Call those people who are truly important to you and actually SAY those things you wish you could say.
(and while we’re on that topic, I decided that if any of my friends/acquaintances from the past didn’t try to see if I was alive after the fires, they didn’t stay on the list. You know, that’s a pretty basic requirements — friends check to see if their friends survived . . . HAHAHA! So we TRIMMED the list way down to those that truly care. Feel free to let go of old or bad relationships that just aren’t working . . . Except the kids. You have to keep them. God said so — don’t blame it on me! :)
b. Start each day with “I’m grateful for . . . ” - call it your HAPPY MOMENT
c. Listen to great music - have your own “music hour”
d. Pray - He’d love to hear from you.
e. Take the family and go somewhere public - give them each $5 and have them give it away within half an hour - come back and explain to who and why.
f. Considering doing service - if you want ideas, let me know.

Know that your own personal set of angels here in Poway haven’t gone anywhere . . . they’re still here to help you!!!! (Met with several of them yesterday at Poway Community Leadership Institute).

3. DON’T FORGET TO ASK!!! People WANT to help you. So be clear on what you need and what you want and ASK. (And for those of you asking me to cater, I’m so sorry but that could kill people . . . .I’ll do almost anything but that! OK, so OTHER than that, ASK!!!!

And today - we can be GRATEFUL we live in this free land that is incredibly prosperous! We can be GRATEFUL for the BEAUTIFUL day!! (I grew up in Detroit and I always feel spoiled rotten in December!) We can be GRATEFUL that we are above ground (my daddy always said it was a good day above ground — he’s below ground now and we tease him about it but his Spirit is alive and kicking butt organizing in heaven . . . where do you think I got it from?). And we can be GRATEFUL for a new day to enjoy love!!!
