Attached below is a flyer for an upcoming “firescaping” workshop on fire-resistant, water-efficient landscaping. The workshop will be held in six locations throughout North San Diego County during March and April, hosted by the water agencies of North San Diego County.
Poway’s workshop will take place on April 2nd. Attendance is open to the general public, but I would like to make a special effort to reach those rebuilding after the Witch Creek Fire.

Gena shares this:
Can you remind the Fire Survivors that our event is this weekend?
We have SOOOOOOOOOO much product to give to them! I mean, HOLY COW! It’s amazing how the crafting community has so incredibly generously donated to this event!
I had to send out an “all points bulletin” tonight for people to help organize and for tables for the event b/c we just have so much stuff!
Yes, we have had to just throw some stuff out b/c it was junk, but there are SO MANY items that are included that are things that are STILL ON MY SHELVES AT MY STORE!

Dear Fire Families -
Please be aware of this. The second phase of fire relief efforts is called “long term recovery.” That means helping people with their long-term needs to restore them back to as close to “normal” as possible. Many grants — i.e. lots of money!– are thrown at this issue. Please be sure and contact these people to help you with long term concerns. It’s always worth asking the questions! There are several floating around so stay aware and informed!!

While we’re at it - giving out unsolicited personal advice . . . may I recommend doing your estate planning??
Last month my friend’s brother dropped dead at age 48 with no apparent cause . . . .
One of the fire victims had a massive stroke and died . . . .
And a friend was diagnosed with lung cancer and was gone in two weeks . . . .
And another acquaintance was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was gone in a week . . . . .
LIFE IS SHORT!!!

UPDATE: So I got an e-mail from our city person who is coordinating with the fire families. . . . She says the building costs in Poway are closer to $250 for tract homes up to $400 for the custom homes. ARGH!!!! Increase your policies TODAY!!!!
It is always an eye opening experience to go through fire relief efforts when the families realize that 95% ARE UNDERINSURED. This time around some are underinsured OVER $1 MILLION.
So I called my insurance agent yesterday to check on my own personal insurance situation. And guess what, I WAS UNDERINSURED.
Now what’s interesting is I did the same thing after the Cedar fires and updated it but MY POLICY FAILED TO KEEP UP.
SO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU CALL YOUR INSURANCE AGENT TODAY.
Here are some questions to ask:
